Who's Who?
The
Northern Hamster Club is affiliated to The National Hamster Council
providing membership in Cumbria, County Durham, Isle of Man,
Lancashire, Northern Ireland, North Lincolnshire, North-East
Lincolnshire, Northumberland, Nottinghamshire, Scotland and Yorkshire.
Dickie Bird M.B.E. is
the Northern Hamster Club’s President. Harold ‘Dickie’ Bird was born in
Barnsley in April 1933 and was awarded the M.B.E. in June 1986. Dickie
Bird played cricket for both Yorkshire and Leicestershire and went on
to be the most successful and famous
umpire in the world, umpiring over 160 international matches.
Mathew Brash is the Northern Hamster Club's Vice President & veterinary advisor. His list of television
appearances includes appearances
on Pet Rescue, Wildlife Police, Vets To The Rescue and Zoo Vet.
Matt also worked on the children’s movie blockbuster Harry Potter as
advisor on the features of the owl Hedwig. He was also an advisor on
BBC1’s Walking With Dinosaurs and is the resident vet
for Flamingo Land. To add to this Matt also runs a busy mixed animal
practice in North Yorkshire.
The Northern Hamster Club hold about 12 shows a year, shows are held at galas, agricultural events, community centre's and church halls. All our shows are worth a visit why not bring your pet along and enter it in our pet class* which we hold for the public. Our pet class is for any small and furry pet such as hamsters, rats, mice, guinea pigs, gerbils and rabbits. A full list of shows can be found on the Website.
The Northern Hamster Club has a hard working Committee and a number of dedicated people and Judges who you wil be most likely to bump into at one of our shows. Any of these members will be happy to answer questions you have relating to hamsters or the Club.
